Festival Walksp6

Saanich Trails:
Route goes through a more rural area of Saanich on trails and roads through Beaver Lake Park, Glendale Woodlands and Layritz Park.

Ocean Views:
Route goes along Cordova Ridge with views over the Gulf Islands. On a clear day you can see Mt Baker in Washington State.

Broadmead Trails:
After leaving the Community Centre, you head for and walk around the Rithet’s Bog Conservation Area. This area is well known to local bird watchers. Return through the trails of Broadmead

Elk Lake Walk;
Route completely circumnavigates Elk Lake and Beaver Lake. Walk has very little elevation and other than the km to get there, is completely on trails. Cormorants sun themselves just offshore, rowers practise further out. It is a well-loved route for local dog walkers and joggers.

Colquitz River Trails new
Route follows the Colquitz River as it meanders through Saanich, passing through Panama Hill Park, Hyacinth Park, ending In Cuthbert Holmes Park and returning though the Glanford area of Saanich.

Swan Lake new2
Route heads to Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, taking in Christmas Hill Park in the Lakehill area.

Mount Doug Park new
Walk goes through Broadmead streets and trails to Mount Douglas Park, one of the largest parks on the Penninsula.

swimSwim

We are pleased to repeat a swim event this year. We have set aside two lanes at Saanich Commonwealth Place (across the parking lot from the Greek Community Centre) from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Anyone who registers can swim at those times for no additional cost other than their $2.00 registration fee. Mike Schlegel will be there to oversee the event. Any type of flotation device can be used. If there is room in the shallow pool people can even walk the 300 metres. There will be a certificate and event stamp for anyone completing the event at those times. If people do not have a swimsuit they can do the event in a t-shirt and shorts.
